A silent dance with a lighthouse light — in the breath of St Ives , 2023
In July,
during a trip to a small island in Cornwall,
I visited the lighthouse at St Ives.
While moving alone, I encountered a friendly light.
As I danced, the light illuminated,
quietly accompanying me through an entire piece.
At the moment
I brought my palms together to close the dance,
the light gently turned itself off.
This spontaneous encounter became the heart of this
improvisational dance film (also the trip)
- a fleeting dialogue between
movement, light, and place.

On the video cover,
the rock where I stand lies directly before the Minack Theatre,
quietly tucked into the hillside at the heart of the frame.
I had just witnessed a play there
- a perfect day in every sense.
